Euromedia Group (EMG) is one of the strongest and largest companies operating on the book market in the Czech Republic. It owns the publishing brands Knižní klub (since 1992), Odeon (since 1999), Ikar (since 2000), Universum (since 2000), YOLI (since 2014), Esence (since 2016), Pragma (since 2016) and Pikola (since 2017). The focus of EMG’s individual publishing brands provides easier orientation for the reader. EMG launched its business operations in the Czech Republic in the spring of 1991. One year later, it began successfully operating its reader’s club under the title Knižní klub, which has attracted more than one million readers during its twenty-year existence. At the present time, Knižní klub has more than 200,000 members. In 2002, EMG became the owner of the largest nationwide distributor, Slovanský dům, which distributes titles from most publishers in the Czech Republic. Its clients include almost all the domestic book merchants, book merchant chains and retail chains.
