"Tesbih" adı, "Güllerin Tacı" anlamına gelen Latince "rosarium" kelimesinden gelir. Tesbih, Katolikler tarafından yüzyıllardır kullanılan güçlü bir meditasyon ve dua aracıdır. Her biri farklı bir duayı veya meditasyonu temsil eden, duaları saymak için kullanılan bir dizi boncuktan oluşur.
